Our team handles hundreds of questions daily and we want to provide our patients with quick and accurate answers. Here are some of the most common questions regarding services, treatments, appointments, and general concerns.

We accept almost all insurances. We recommend you contact your insurance provider and ask if Dr. Erin Stoehr is an in-network provider for your insurance plan.

Yes, we are accepting new patients for gynecology and women's health and wellness.  We are no longer seeing patients for pregnancy.  However, we are accepting new patients for fertility concerns and pre-conception care.

To establish as a patient, girls usually begin appointments around the age of 16. If the patient is having problems with her periods or there are concerns regarding birth control, we can see patients who are younger than 16. We do not typically perform pelvic exams on very young girls, unless absolutely necessary. , All minor patients must have a parent or guardian present for the first appointment, and they must sign a consent form giving Dr. Stoehr permission to see her. Please call the office to make an appointment.

Frequently Asked Gynecology Questions

Even missing one day can make birth control ineffective in preventing pregnancy. If you miss a day of birth control, you must use a second form of protection to prevent pregnancy (ex. condoms, diaphragm, etc.) for that entire month. Continue taking your birth control each day, even after missing one dose.

You must complete the first full pack (1 month) and start the next pack of birth control before your birth control is effective at preventing pregnancy. You must use a second form of protection to prevent pregnancy (ex condoms, diaphragm, etc.) until this time period has been completed.

Same day appointments are often available. Please call the office and we will schedule you an appointment to have testing completed. Until you are tested and know your results, you should not have sexual contact with partners.

Yeast infections and Urinary Tract Infection symptoms can mimic one another. It is important to have a vaginal swab and possibly a urine sample tested so we can know how to correctly treat your symptoms. Same day appointments are most often available. Please call the office to make an appointment.

Please do not take AZO or other urinary medications that change the color of your urine, as this will affect the accuracy of tests. Same day appointments are most often available. Please call the office to make an appointment. Be sure to increase your water intake until you can be seen. You can also drink cranberry juice.

Bleeding after a procedure may last up to 10-14 days. If you are saturating an overnight pad or bleeding through super tampons more frequently than every hour, call the office as soon as possible.

Call the office and we can order a blood pregnancy test to verify whether you are pregnant.

It depends on the kind of appointment. If your appointment is for an annual, pap smear, ultrasound, or IUD string check, you can still have your exam on your period. If your appointment is for a procedure, please call the office to ask if your appointment needs to be rescheduled.

There is no age limit for birth control devices, but you will need to schedule an appointment to discuss your birth control options. Please call the office to schedule an appointment.

You do not need a prescription for Plan B. It is available over the counter and should be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. You can still take Plan B after 72 hours, although it may be less effective.
